Building For A Better Tomorrow

As a certified “Green Builder” and Wisconsin ENERGY STAR partner, Waldmann Construction Inc. is committed to protecting the environment with energy efficient, low maintenance homes.

This Arbor Vitae home was built after a fire completely destroyed the owners’ previous home. The family wanted to build an ENERGY STAR home because they wanted to do their part for the environment and be able to live in a less drafty, more efficient house. See Article

This Wisconsin ENERGY STAR home is 7,154 square feet. A year ‘round home in Three Lakes, it boasts an octagonal dining room and sunken living room. The large media room and nautical screened porch bar area are great for entertaining.

Waldmann Construction has become ENERGY STAR certified in order to provide customers with energy efficient homes and to show them how to save money, be more comfortable, and protect our environment. A Green Built Home helps save money, protect our natural resources, and improve your family’s health, safety and comfort. The concept of “green building” is becoming to be known simply as good building.

About ENERGY STAR

ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices.

Energy efficient choices can save families about a third on their energy bill with similar savings of greenhouse gas emissions, without sacrificing features, style or comfort. ENERGY STAR helps you make the energy efficient choice. With the help of ENERGY STAR, Americans in 2005 have saved enough energy to avoid greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those from 23 million cars — all while saving $12 billion on their utility bills.

This ENERGY STAR home was built in St. Germain after “green demolition” removed the previous house. All of the materials were resold or recycled. The new home is environmentally on the cutting edge in the Northwoods. The owners have included a geothermal heat system, solar panels, as well as many natural and recycled products. The home has met all the requirements for LEED certification. See Article

Waldmann Construction has completed the only LEED certified home in northern Wisconsin. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a Green Building Rating System™ which is the nationally recognized rating system that ensures homes are designed and built for energy and resource efficiency as well as for the health of the residents. LEED certification recognizes and rewards builders for voluntarily meeting high performance standards but also gives homeowners the confidence that their home is durable, healthy, and environmentally friendly.

What is USGBC?
The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a non-profit organization with more than 10,500 member organizations and 75 regional chapters. These members consist of individuals from every division in the building industry with a common goal of transforming the building industry to sustainability. This means to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work. The members of USGBC are responsible for creating a nationally recognized rating system for the development of high performance, sustainable buildings. This program is the LEED Green Building Rating System.

What is LEED®?
LEED is short for the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Building Rating System™. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality. This is a voluntary program for builders and homeowners which give them the tools needed to have a measurable and immediate impact on their building. Builders can also receive LEED certification by registering their project which recognizes and rewards them for voluntarily meeting high performance building standards. The building project receives credits based on certain prerequisites in each rated category. Projects are awarded Certified, Silver, Gold, or Platinum certification depending on the number of credits they receive. This comprehensive approach is the reason LEED-certified buildings have reduced operating costs, healthier and more productive occupants, and conserve our natural resources.

Why Build Green?
A Green Built Home helps save money, protect our natural resources, and improve your family’s health, safety and comfort. The concept of “green building” is becoming known simply as good building.

What is Green Building?

Green building refers to measures that can be taken to make a home or other building healthier, safer, more comfortable, more durable, energy efficient, and environmentally responsible. The concept of “green building” was developed during the aftermath of the energy crisis of the 1970s and the occurrence of “sick building syndrome” in the 1980s and 1990s. Green building has come to represent an entire systems approach to issues such as poor indoor air quality, energy efficiency, and natural resource depletion. Some green building features may cost more in the beginning but future savings in reduced energy and maintenance costs.
